SEO | Link Building

"So what the heck is link building and how's it gonna help my business?", you say. Link building refers to the number of websites that link to your website. The more websites that link to your website, the more likely you are to be ranked higher in an internet search. The more relevant and popular these websites are that link to your website will help you even more.

A great way to begin link building is by first leveraging your business relationships. Contact every, customer, vendor, and business you can think of and ask them if they will swap links with you. The term for this is reciprocal linking. Think of it as, "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine!" This will not only look more favorable to the search engines, but it also benefits you in that you will be networking with these other websites in the virtual world. It's a great way to share each others audience and generate more traffic to your website. More traffic means more potential cashola.

In April's issue of "The Edge", I touched on the importance of affiliate relationships and how they can significantly help grow your business. This is another great way to link build. For more great information on starting a business, growing a business, marketing, and design you won't find on this site, subscribe to the edge today!
